Uttam was the first present day Nepali tent-making missionary to bring the gospel to the Nepalese and Bhutanese outside of Nepal. He pioneered Nepalese ministry in Malaysia in 1999 and developed a Nepali fellowship. He also developed strategies to engage local churches to work amongst the migrant population and developed a multicultural church. He encouraged churches in Nepal to engage in mission works amongst Nepalese and Bhutanese outside of Nepal.
Today there are hundreds of Nepalese speaking Churches in Malaysia and Singapore and thousands have given their lives to Jesus. From this he has encouraged the development of a work in Nepal coordinating the ministry between the Nepalese churches and the Nepalese and Bhutanese Christians abroad.
